Susan Veronica Schutte, born April 13, 1950, in Jersey City, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, with her sister Ruthellen by her side. Susan was the cherished daughter of the late Francis X. Schutte and Veronica Malone Flood, and the beloved step‑daughter of Thomas Flood. She grew up in Jersey City and attended St. Dominic Academy. In 1976, Susan moved to the Chicago area choosing to remain close to her mother Veronica, step‑father Thomas, and her sister Joanne. She was a devoted sister to Ruthellen (Jack) Campbell and the late Joanne Schutte Macias, always holding her family close throughout her life. The title she treasured most was Aunt. She was the proud aunt of Colleen (Doug) Lerner, John (Susan) Campbell, and Christopher (Keri) Campbell, and a loving great‑aunt to ten nieces and nephews: Emma Lerner, James Lerner, Patrick Campbell, Thomas Campbell, Clare Campbell, Sarah Campbell, Cate Campbell, Maggie Campbell, Trace Oliver, and William Oliver. Susan had a deep and gentle love for animals and spent many years caring for beloved pets, including at times providing foster care to dogs. Her compassion extended to everyone she met, both people and animals alike. Susan will be remembered for her strong spirit, warm heart, and the unwavering love she showed to those fortunate enough to be part of her life. She will be dearly missed and forever loved.
