Robert Bruce Benvenuti, age 88, of Wheeling, IL and Punta Gorda, FL passed away quietly on April 23, 2026 in Port Charlotte, Fl surrounded by family. He was born April 22, 1938 in Highland Park, IL, he was the son of the late Bruno and Yolanda "Yolly" (Santi) Benvenuti of Highwood, IL. Robert was united in marriage to Mary Ann "Mickey" Vorobel on October 8, 1960 and remained a devoted husband for 65 years. 

Bob was a 1957 graduate of Highland Park High School and graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1959. He completed the Managers Program at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management in 1985. Bob began his career with A.O. Smith in Milwaukee where he and Mickey bought their first home in Sussex, WI and where they made life-long friends and shared a love of the Green Bay Packers. His career later brought them to Wheeling, IL in 1971, when Bob worked alongside his father for Commonwealth Edison where he retired after 25 years. Following retirement in 1996, Bob and Mickey explored Florida and enjoyed spending winters in Punta Gorda, FL making many long-time friends over the years. Our family knew he loved being a "snowbird" and Bob avoided snow at all cost.

Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, his daughter, Kathleen (Greggory) Haugh of Sun Prairie, WI; sons Donald (Mary) Benvenuti, of Elk Grove; Michael (Roxane) Benvenuti of St. Charles, IL and Anthony Benvenuti of Orland Park; six grandchildren, including Timothy Benvenuti, Brendan and Devin Benvenuti and Audrie, Daniel, and Brian Haugh; brother James (Deborah) Benvenuti, of Naples, FL; and niece Gina (Timothy) Mann, of Tampa, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation for family and friends will be Friday, May 29, 2026 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 N. Milwaukee Ave. (2 Blocks South of Dundee Road) Wheeling, IL 60090. A funeral Mass for Robert will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 181 W. Dundee Road, Wheeling, IL 60090. A graveside service will be held with immediate family at a later date.
