Marie Ann Fahy (nee O'Sullivan) was born on January 2, 1938, in County Kerry, Ireland, to the late Creena (Shanahan) and late James O'Sullivan. Beloved wife of the late Denis Fahy for 36 years. Loving mother to Denis (Yana), John (Vicki), Peter (Karen), David (Gail) and Paul (Sandra). Dear Grandmother to Hanna, Sarah, Alison (Berenis), Matthew, Katelyn, Kelly, Joseph, Evan and Collin. Great grandmother to Maverick. Fond sister of Lil, Joan, Rosin, Anne, Sheila, Kathleen, Nuala, Deirdre, Michael, Seamus, late Sean and loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Marie immigrated to the United States at a young age after many years of helping her parents care for younger siblings at the family home in Listowel, Ireland. Marie and Denis started their own family and were very involved in St. Thomas Becket parish upon moving from Chicago to Mt. Prospect. Marie served as a Eucharist Minister, a Minister of Care, Meals on Wheels and was very involved in giving her time to several parish programs which aided those in need. On October 17, 2004, Marie received the Christifideles Award from Cardinal George, Archdiocese of Chicago as well as an award from her parish honoring her dedication and commitment for the efforts she demonstrated to the parish community.
Marie was very dedicated to her husband and sons. She helped her younger sister, Kathleen, and younger brother, Sean, immigrate to Chicago. She was very involved in St. Thomas Becket parish from 1970 to 2020. Marie also loved to garden and planted flowers at her parish and home every year.
Visitation Monday, March 3rd at 10 am at St. Thomas Becket Catholic Church, 1321 N Burning Bush Ln, Mt Prospect, IL 60056. A life celebration mass will follow at 11 am. Interment All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
