Lucy, beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away on February 11th at the age of 73 after a courageous two-year battle with stage four endometrial cancer. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and unforgettable memories. Lucy is survived by her loving daughter Clara and husband Alexander. She is also mourned by a heartbroken and supportive extended family and countless friends. Born in Siberia, Lucy grew up in Kiev, Ukraine. She was the youngest of seven children and cherished daughter of Boris and Raisa Soroka. She demonstrated boundless devotion to her family. Her passion for children and animals began early in life, caring for her nieces and nephews and rescuing numerous animals. As a young adult, she worked as a makeup artist and wig maker at the renowned Dovzhenko Film Studios in Kiev, Ukraine. After immigrating to the United States in 1981 with her husband, she pursued her American dream and, in 1990, proudly opened Nail Time in Glenview. For over three hardworking decades, she built a successful business, touched countless lives through her work, and formed enduring friendships. A big personality in a small package, Lucy was known for her vibrant and strong spirit. Courageous, compassionate, kind, and inspirational—a fiery soul who showed us what can be accomplished with dedication and perseverance. Her greatest joy was being Clara's mother, a role she embraced with love. Lucy will be deeply missed. We will remember her wise words, the moments shared, and the love she imparted. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who crossed her path, and her memory will remain in the lives of many. Rest in peace Mama Lucy.
