Lilian Anne Fulde (nee Gabay) passed away on November 21, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Roland Fulde, and their son, Robert Fulde. Lilian was also preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Mary Gabay of Dayton, Ohio, her brother Steve Gabay, sisters Bertha Hastings, Irene Deshefy and Mary Jenkins. Lilian is survived by her daughter, Marianne Fulde Marino, son-in-law, Timothy Marino and 4 grandchildren, Allison (Thor Christianson) Marino, Lauren (Adam DeLand) Marino, Audra (Zachary) Rygh, and Daniel (Hailey) Fulde, great grandchildren Greyson Rygh, Tatum Rygh, and Clara Marino-DeLand, and many nieces and nephews. Lilian was born on September 4, 1928, in Dayton, Ohio, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1946. She earned a B.A. degree from Lake Erie College in 1950 and an M.S. Degree in Foods and Nutrition from Michigan State University in 1952. While in graduate school, she met her husband, Roland, and they were married in the campus chapel in 1952, followed by a move to the Chicago area after graduation. Lilian's career as a professional home economist began at the Culinary Arts Institute in Chicago, writing and testing recipes for a series of cookbooks. She also worked in the research division at the Kraft Foods Company in Glenview, IL., organizing taste-testing panels to evaluate the company's newly-developed products. During semi-retirement, Lilian served as a substitute teacher in high school home economics classes and as a representative of the American Lamb Council, she demonstrated lamb cookery in schools. She also worked as a secretary in the Metallurgy Division at Argonne National Laboratory, and as a marketing representative for the Merchandising Group of New York City promoting fabrics from the Klopman Mills Co. In 1962 Lilian's husband accepted a position at the Campbell Soup Company, which necessitated a move to New Jersey. They stayed there for over 40 years and during that time they were blessed with two children, Robert and Marianne. The family spent many happy times vacationing in their motor home and cruising in their boat at the Jersey Shore and the Chesapeake Bay. In 2006, Lilian and Roland moved to the Sedgebrook Retirement Community in Lincolnshire, IL. For over 25 years Lilian and Roland shared a keen interest in serious amateur photography, working as a team and enjoying the comradeship as members of multiple photographic associations. Many of their photographs won honors and awards and were chosen in exhibitions and published in magazines and calendars. Lilian was a former member of The Questers, The American Home Economics Association, The American Association of University Women, and The Haddonfield Methodist Church.
