Obituary

Leroy John Orth of Lake Wales passed away Monday, June 24, 2024 at Winter Haven Hospital. He was born May 16, 1929 in Elmwood, Illinois to the late John and Alma Orth. Leroy was a retired superintendent of Pepper Construction and was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Leroy loved wood turning, golf, hockey, German food, and was a fan of the Florida Panthers. He traveled all over the country in his RV. He received a Bronze Star for his service during the Korean War while in the United States Army. Leroy was preceded in death by his first wife, Muriel Orth in 2000; second wife, Mary Orth in 2019; sister, Louanna Orth; and brother, James Orth. He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Cali and husband David; son, James Lee Orth and wife Deborah; grandchildren, Regina Cali, Erin Cali and fiancé Matthew Wohlgemuth, and Jennifer Tumang and husband Scottie; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2024 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Lake Wales, FL. Entombment will take place at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.
