She was born on November 16, 1931, in Chicago, IL to the late Marco and Theresa (nee Governali) Laspisa. Laura is now reunited with her beloved husband of 67 years, James Louis Ehas, who preceded her in death on January 5, 2018, just two days after of his 87th birthday. Together, Laura and James built a life centered around love, family, and unwavering devotion to one another. They shared countless memories throughout their many years together and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and enduring traditions.
Laura was an avid artist, creating beautiful paintings in oil, watercolor and chalk, which we still enjoy today.
Laura worked as paralegal for the Hyatt Hotel, United Air Lines and Motorola legal departments.
Jim was an accomplished Tool & Die Maker working for Chicago Name Plate for 35 years. Jim was a family man and a friend to all his neighbors. He spent time talking with and helping neighbors with projects. Never too busy to lend a helping hand.
A once in a lifetime moment in Jim, Laura and Mark lives came when they were invited to Washington D.C. to attend President Jimmy Carter’s Inauguration and dinner at the White House. Mark had won an essay contest highlighting President Carter in 8th grade.
In retirement they moved to Sun City West, Arizona, where they enjoyed life to the fullest. They traveled often and enjoyed countless activities including golf, bocce ball, cards and activities at their recreation centers.
Laura was a natural golfer, never having a lesson, won a number of golf tournaments including shooting a hole-in-one to win a tournament earning her a prize for two, a full paid trip to Japan, which Laura always desired to visit. Funny how life works out sometimes.
