Judith M. Powers nee Mason, age 85, of Palatine, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judy, a beloved daughter, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend, who left us. Judy was born in Chicago, IL, and lived a life full of love, laughter, and creativity.
Judy was known for her spunky, witty nature and her unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and God. A lifelong Catholic, Judy was particularly devoted to St. Anthony, often invoking his intercession to help her find things she misplaced — a testament to her deep faith and sense of humor. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through both joys and challenges.
Judy's creative spirit was expressed in her beautiful handcrafted jewelry, which she crafted with passion and care. She was always ready to share a kind word or a thoughtful gesture, and her loyalty to those she loved was unmatched.
In addition to her creative pursuits, Judy had a love for music, especially singing. She performed at many senior events, bringing joy and light to those around her. One of her proudest moments was singing in the Irish choir at the Vatican, a memory she cherished deeply.
Judy's personality was as vibrant as her love for life's little pleasures. She enjoyed blueberry wine and draft beer, and her zest for life was infectious. Her journey took her from Melrose Park to Midlothian, Buffalo Grove, and finally Palatine, where she built lasting memories and friendships.
Judy will be missed by her family and friends, who will always remember her warmth, humor, and the love she so freely gave. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched, and her memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration.
