John J. Kanya, age 93, of Lincolnshire, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025. He was born March 22, 1932 to John and Mary (Kraft) Kanya in Newark, NJ. Cherished father of Kevin Kanya, David (Denise) Kanya, Robin (George) Athens, Craig (Michele) Kanya, and Julie Boyd. Loving grandfather of Ryan, Colin, and Connor Kanya, Katelyn and Dylan Kanya, Craig Jr., Brett, and Hunter Kanya, Jack, Kennedy, and Brock Boyd. Great grandfather of Georgia and Lola Kanya. Fond brother of Maryann King. Devoted friend of Gloria Hoffman. Kind uncle, cousin, and friend to many. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his adoring wife , Joan (Wilkens) Kanya, granddaughter, Valerie Athens, and his siblings, Albert Kanya, and Lorraine Leber. A graveside service will be Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Northbrook with Military Honors.
