Joanne J. Evansky, age 83, of Mount Prospect, passed away peacefully Monday, July 20, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Chicago on February 14, 1943, to John and Clara (nee Wertz) Grabowy. Later they added her brother, Jim, to the family and formed her outlook on welcoming all of life's challenges and blessings.

Joanne was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and provider whose greatest joy was caring for the family she loved so deeply. She met the love of her life, Paul Evansky Sr., in 1960, and the two were married the following year at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, beginning a marriage built on faith, commitment, and unwavering devotion. In 1969, they made their home in Mount Prospect, where together they raised their family and created a lifetime of cherished memories.

A gifted homemaker, Joanne poured her heart into every aspect of caring for those she loved. Whether she was preparing home-cooked meals, keeping a welcoming home, relentlessly vacuuming after her beloved Labrador Retriever (Beaver), or making sure all the numerous chores were done; she expressed her love through quiet acts of service that never went unnoticed. Her family always came first, and she worked tirelessly to ensure they were cared for with tenderness, dedication, and unconditional love.

Joanne also found joy in creative pursuits. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting beautiful handmade pieces for family and friends and spent time exploring her artistic side through ceramics. Her hands were rarely still, and she took pride in creating things that would be treasured for years to come.

While Joanne was known for her caring heart, she was equally known for her strong will. She could be a little stubborn, notoriously ornery, and quite cantankerous, when the situation called for it, especially when raising her children. She believed in teaching respect, responsibility, and doing what was right; never hesitating to provide loving discipline when it was needed. Beneath her determined spirit was a woman of remarkable strength, whose life was defined by hard work, selflessness, and an enduring love for her husband, home, and family.

Devoted wife of the late Paul A. Evansky, Sr. Loving mother of Paul, Jr. (Marie), Greg (Carolann), Susan (Mike) Palello, and Anne Cerek. Doting grandmother of Christopher, Abbey, Matthew, Madeleine, and Haley. Caring sister of Jim (Janie) Grabowy. Fond sister-in-law of Tony (Christine) Evansky. Kind aunt, cousin, and friend of many.
