Jesus "Chuy" Mata, age 93, passed away on November 24, 2024, at his home in Addison with his family by his side. Jesus was born on December 23, 1930 in Cotulla, Texas to Benicia Mesa and Mauricio Mata. He was married to Maria Oralia Torres on April 6, 1953 in Cotulla, Texas and together they had six children. Jesus is survived by his wife, Maria Oralia; children, Mario (Darlyn), Mary Elsa (Marquette) Fricot, Belinda (David) DuBose, Elizabeth (Dennis Mahoney), Mark (Teri) and Dina (Richard) Oberman. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother, Oliver (Mary Jane) Aguilar, and his sister, Sulema (Anthony) Muskat, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jesus was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Jesus was a devoted husband and father, always putting his family first.
He was a supportive member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Lytle, Texas for many years.
Before retirement, he was a loyal employee of Wheeling Community Consolidated School District 21 as a Supervisor of Custodians for 23 years.
Jesus was a veteran of the United States Army (1951-1953) and served with distinction in Germany.
Visitation Monday, December 2, 2024 from 3-8 pm at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave. (2 Blocks South of Dundee Road) Wheeling. Life Celebration Service Tuesday 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
