In Loving Memory: Jeff D. Gott
Jeff Gott will forever be remembered for his unwavering dedication and profound commitment to his family, friends, and community. On May 20, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones, Jeff D. Gott, aged 52, lost his battle with bone marrow cancer and passed away peacefully in his home.
Jeff was born in Hinsdale, IL and raised in Valparaiso, IN, where the Gott family name was synonymous with kindness and sportsmanship. His father, Dale Gott, a beloved teacher and coach, instilled in Jeff the values of hard work and compassion from an early age. Jeff attended Valparaiso High School, where he not only excelled academically but also shone as a talented athlete in baseball and basketball. His passion for sports would become a lifelong pursuit.
After graduating from Indiana University, where he played baseball and forged lifelong friendships, Jeff began a successful career in Information Technology. His last professional endeavor was as an IT specialist at CDW.
Jeff's life took a beautiful turn when he met Veronica through mutual friends. Their love story was a home run, and they exchanged vows in August of 2001. Together, they embarked on a journey that led them from Lincoln Park to Buffalo Grove to San Diego, and eventually Northbrook. Along this path, their family blossomed, welcoming two cherished children, Nathan and Isabel. His family was the center of his universe and the time he spent with them was his greatest source of joy.
Following in his father's footsteps, Jeff shared his love for sportsmanship and teamwork with his children and the wider community. Coaching became not just a passion but a purpose for Jeff, as he mentored youth teams with pride and joy, and passed on his knowledge and enthusiasm for sports.
Jeff is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Veronica (Torres) Gott, his beloved children Nathan and Isabel Gott, his mother Sharon Gott, his siblings Kimberly (Mike) Cook and Tom Gott. Preceding him in death is his dear father, Dale Gott.
Jeff's legacy will forever echo in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him. Though he may be physically absent, his spirit will continue.
The visitation will take place Wednesday May 22nd, from 4-8 pm at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave (2 Blocks South of Dundee Road) Wheeling, IL where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and share stories of the impact he had on their lives. A graveside life celebration service on Thursday 1:00 pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be directed to BACKBONES, an organization Jeff frequently volunteered with. Your contributions in Jeff's honor will continue his mission of positively impacting the lives of others.
Jeff's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his legacy of love and sportsmanship will endure. Rest in peace, Coach Gott. You will be deeply missed!
