Obituary

James P. "Jim" Hunt, beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away surrounded by love. Born on October 19, 1951, in Chicago, Jim brought light and laughter into the lives of everyone who knew him. He will always be remembered for his beautiful smile, quick wit, playful spirit, and generous heart. Jim proudly served his country as a Medical Service Specialist and Technician with the U.S. Air Force 928th Tactical Airlift Group. After his service, he built a career as a computer technician, where his creativity and resourcefulness made him a trusted problem solver and innovator. His life was defined by giving. Whether helping his wife, Gerry, with classroom projects to spark joy in children's learning, lending a hand with home improvements, or simply offering encouragement and laughter to those around him, Jim shared his talents selflessly. He was skilled and handy, always ready with a clever solution or a thoughtful gesture. Jim's love for nature and animals reflected his kind and gentle soul. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially roller skating and dancing hand-in-hand with Gerry, moments that perfectly captured his fun-loving and affectionate nature. Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Geraldine G. Hunt; his daughter, April Ferron; and his cherished stepdaughters, Lynn Kohut, Tricia Koppel, and Laura Coale. He was the proud grandfather of Oona, Mia, and Sophia, and great-grandfather of Scott and Odin. He is also remembered with love by many friends and extended family. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Paul. His legacy of humor, kindness, and creativity will live on in the lives of those he touched. Jim's memory will be carried forward in every smile he inspired, every laugh he sparked, and every act of love and generosity he gave so freely. There will be no formal services for Jim per his request.
