Commander James Borchardt age 49 of McHenry, IL. Beloved husband of Maralee (nee Dayment) Borchardt for 23 years. Loving father of Ryan and Drew "Gooze" Borchardt. Dear son of Gail (late Robert) Borchardt. Fond brother of Justin (Joanna) Borchardt. Adored son in-law of Chuck (Shelley) Dayment. Caring brother in-law of Andrea Dayment, Renee Dayment, and Charles Dayment. Cherished uncle of Sara, Kelly, Hailey and Leo. Cousin, and Friend of Many.
Jim dedicated 25 years of distinguished service to the Wheeling Police Department. He was known for his unwavering commitment to public safety, his leadership, and his mentorship. Over the years, he trained and inspired many members of the department, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community alike.
Jim was a devoted public servant whose legacy of leadership and integrity will forever be a part of our department. His contributions were immeasurable, and his loss is deeply felt by all who knew and worked with him.
Private family services will be held on Wednesday morning, April 23, 2025. The Family Procession will depart from Kolssak Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m., proceeding down Dundee Road to Community Boulevard, The Family Procession will pause in front of the Wheeling Police Station before concluding at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 181 W. Dundee Road, Wheeling, IL.
- Public Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
- Officer Walk Thru 3:00 pm
- Visitation Continues Until 5:30 pm
- Life Celebration Service 5:30 pm
- Post Service Visitation 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave. (2 Blocks South of Dundee Road) Wheeling.
