Gary W. Young, age 74, of Wheeling, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Evanston Hospital surrounded by family. He was born August 21, 1951 in Covington, KY to William and Dorothy (Vandy) Young. On October 25, 1975 he married the love of his life, Susan Frederick in Evanston, IL.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Susan. Loving father of Heather (Mike Kuhlin) Young, Jeremy (Amber) Young, and Lindsey (the late Carlos) Sanchez. Caring grandfather of Tara Skott, Jake, and Addyson Kuhlin, Lucas and Noah Young, Jayden Young, and Isabella Sanchez. Fond brother of Patricia Robinson his twin and Dottie Dennis. Kind brother-in-law of Dennis Frederick, Robert (Marianne) Frederick, Nancy (Rami) Davidoff, Jeff Frederick, Beth (Michael) Barber, Mary (Steve) Mounts, and George Frederick. Kind uncle, cousin, and friend of many.   

Visitation will be Friday, May 15, 2026 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave. (2 Blocks South of Dundee Road) Wheeling, IL. The funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m.
