In Loving Memory of Wayne Thielsen

Wayne Thielsen, 88, a man who truly was "one of a kind, passed away on Sunday, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, exuberant joy, and a profound devotion to the family he cherished. He was the beloved husband of Brenda (nee Neumayer) Thielsen for 52 years, loving Dad of Jackie (Bob) Schwartz, Angie (Brandon) Burns, and Jeff Thielsen, dear Papa of Tyler, Sydney, Maddie, and Cooper, cherished brother-in-law of Charlie (Debbie) Neumayer and Linda (Rick) Pedi and Uncle Wayne to many.

Wayne was a man who lived by the philosophy of working hard and playing even harder. His professional life was defined by his passion for metallurgical engineering, a field he didn’t just work in, but truly loved. This passion led him to become the founder and #1 employee of WayneCo Energy Services.

Beyond his technical expertise, Wayne was a gifted salesman. He possessed a rare ability to relate to everyone he met, building business relationships that spanned decades and were rooted in genuine connection and mutual respect.

While Wayne enjoyed the fruits of his labor, his primary drive was providing for those he loved. He was a man of immense generosity, always looking toward the future of his family. Through careful planning and a selfless spirit, he ensured that his children and grandchildren would have the gift of education, establishing college funds that will impact his family for generations to come.

Throughout his life, Wayne pursued his hobbies with the same enthusiasm and dedication that he brought to his career. Whether he was playing pool or hitting the golf course, he loved the spirit of the game. In his semi-retirement years, he became an avid card player, spending countless hours mastering Bridge and Pinochle.

True to his character, these weren't just games to Wayne—they were avenues for connection. The lasting impact he made on his card-playing community is evident in the many friends who continued to check in with Brenda, keeping tabs on their dear friend.

Wayne’s "play hard" attitude was legendary, particularly in his younger years with the Hustlers Ski Club—an era that provided him with lifelong friendships and a lifetime of stories he loved to recount.

He was also a connoisseur of the good things in life.  He loved the experience of going out to eat and exploring great food, especially Saturday nights out to Palm Court with Brenda.  Whether it was his signature Manhattan or, in later years, a fine glass of red wine, Wayne appreciated the art of a good drink and lighthearted, jovial conversation.  Nothing brought a smile to his face faster than watching his grandchildren play with the train set he set up for them or cheering them on from the sidelines of their sporting events.

Above all his professional and personal achievements, Wayne’s greatest source of pride was the life he built with his beloved Lil ‘Bee. Together, they created a foundation of love and laughter that served as the heartbeat of their family. He was a father and grandfather who was immensely proud of his family’s every milestone.

Wayne Thielsen lived a full, vibrant life, leaving those who knew him with full hearts and a blueprint for how to live with purpose, generosity, and a touch of mischief. He will be deeply missed, but his stories will live on through the family he so dearly loved.
