Obituary

Emile Aloysius Johnson was born on November 19, 1954 to Rose Mae Henderson Beavers and Edwin Aloysius Johnson in Jacksonville, FL. He began attending primary school in Miami, FL, he completed 8th grade at Nativity Catholic School in Cincinnati, OH where he also was baptized, confirmed and served as an alter server. Emile completed secondary education at Withrow High School where he wrestled and competed for Olympic trials. Upon graduation He attended the University of Cincinnati majoring in Economics where he became a member of the Alpha Alpha chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and led several outreach efforts to serve the local community. There he would meet his future wife, Shari Smith, and soon after they were united in holy matrimony and settled in Cincinnati where he began his professional sales career. They relocated to Chicago where he worked and retired from Abbott Labs as the Director of midwestern sales before launching his own commercial business, Goode Foods, Inc. He served on the board of directors at several charitable organizations including the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago, and was part of the delegation of the Archdiocese audience with the holy father Pope Frances in Rome, Italy. Emile is preceded in death by his parents, Rose Mae & Edwin, and aunts & uncles. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Shari Smith Johnson, son Andrew Emile [Nickeda] Johnson, daughter Caitlin Ann Johnson, all of Buffalo Grove, IL; Brothers, Edmund "Tony" Johnson of Miami, FL, Gerard Thomas Johnson of Cincinnati, OH; Sisters, Marian Cecilia Johnson-Thompson [Charles] of Durham, NC, Emilie Anastasia Robinson of Dallas, TX, Eleanor Haynes-Beavers of Tomball, TX; Grandchildren, Carter Andrew Johnson and Kayden Andrew Johnson of Buffalo Grove, IL; Brother-in-law, Derrick Joseph Smith of Columbus, OH. Additionally, he leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, relatives, friends & colleagues. Viewing will be held on Monday from 4-8pm at 195 N Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove IL 60089. Funeral service will begin at 10am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089. Due to Covid-19 precautions we regret that visitors will not be received at the home following these events. Burial service will occur in Galveston, TX time tbd..
