Donald Zitzewitz, age 89, of Buffalo Grove, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025. He was born January 7, 1936, in Chicago, IL to Carl and Alice (nee Christensen) Zitzewitz. Don graduated from Carthage College in Carthage, IL earning his bachelor's degree, and he pursued a fulfilling career as a chemist at G.D.Searle in Skokie. After retirement he enjoyed traveling, wood working, model railroading, and visiting his family. Devoted husband of Janet. Caring father of Jill (Osman Bilsel) Zitzewitz, Greg (Colleen) Wyss, Linda (Eric Enskat) Wyss, Beth (Tim) Fournier. Loving grandfather of Sabri, Nina, Isaac, and Ellie Bilsel, Sarah (Mike) Stainbrook, Brian (Meridith) Wyss, Kevin (Bethany) Wyss, Ian (Rachel) Wills, Amber Pace, Maddy and Marc Fournier. Doting great and great-great-grandfather, and kind uncle, cousin, and friend of many. Donald was preceded in death by his son, Dean Zitzewitz in 2017 and his daughter Pamela Zitzewitz in 2023. He was also preceded in death by his two grandchildren, Sean Wills in 2016 and Jack Fournier in 1995. A Memorial Visitation on Saturday April 5, 2025, will be from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 111 N. Elmhurst Road, Prospect Heights.
