Obituary

It is with deep love and remembrance that the family of Do Yee Jung announces her passing on May 14, 2026.

Born on January 2, 1930, in Toisan, Guangdong, China, she was the youngest of four sisters. Do Yee fled to Hong Kong in 1954 to escape communist persecution and stayed with relatives there until she came to the United States in 1960 to be reunited with her husband, Kum Yee Jung, beginning a new chapter of her life.

Together with her late husband, she owned and operated a laundry business in Hempstead, Long Island and later in Garden City, Long Island. Do Yee lived in Garden City for over 50 years, where she loved to go to church,garden, cook and play mah jong with friends on the weekend. Do Yee moved to Buffalo Grove, Illinois in 2014 to live with her son, Sam, where she continued to enjoy the love and closeness of family. She also found deep joy and community through her new church and the many friends she made there.

Above all else, Do Yee cherished God and her family. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kum Yee Jung (2006); her son, Edward Jung (2007); and her daughter, Hellen Jung Cusumano (1999).

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Annie Jung, wife of Edward; her son, Samuel Jung and his wife, Laurel; and her son-in-law, Ronald Cusumano, husband of Hellen.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Michelle Chin and her husband, Kenneth; Douglas Jung and his wife, Caroline; Thomas Jung and his wife, Ellyn; Michael Jung and his wife, Kayla; Aaron Jung; and Andrew Cusumano.

Her legacy continues through her beloved great-grandchildren: Andrew Chin and his wife, Emily; Nicholas Chin; Sarah Chin; Liam Jung; Thea Jung, and Daniel Jung.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on August 15, 2026, at 10:30 AM at:
