Cynthia L.
Kane
July 17, 1953 — September 1, 2026
Wheeling
Cynthia L. Kane, 73, affectionately known as Cyndi, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be remembered for her feisty personality, strong will, independence, charisma, generosity, and, above all, her enormous heart.
Cyndi was the beloved wife of the late Kevin Kane and the late Cary McMahon. She was the loving mother of Christine “Kris” Skelton, Chelsea Kane Darnell and her husband Stanley, and Kraig Daniel Kane and his wife Lauren. She was the proud grama and nana of Alex, Weston, and Davis, and dear sister of Randy and Sheryl Wiest and Laura and Thomas McDonald. She was also a cherished aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
Cyndi’s Catholic faith was an important part of her life. She prayed every day, attended Mass regularly, and relied on her faith to carry her through life’s challenges. Family was always paramount to Cyndi, and she showed her love through countless hugs, phone calls, thoughtful gifts, and, most famously, her cooking. Her rice balls, meatloaf, Hanky Panks, spaghetti, and especially her grilled cheese sandwiches became treasured family memories.
She loved gardening, animals, Christmas, Hallmark movies, Elvis and oldies music, bowling with the Tuesday’s Tootsies, and cheering on the Chicago Cubs. She was also an enthusiastic collector of Hummels, spoons, Santas, and windchimes. Cyndi had a special gift for making people feel loved and cared for.
She was a devoted mother who taught her children how to cook, sew, work in the yard, clean, care for others, and be selfless. Her familiar reminder, “Do your chores. Nothing is free,” was just one of the many lessons she passed on.
Cyndi’s greatest gift was not the things she gave, but herself. She gave her time, her faith, her laughter, her wisdom, her hugs, and her unconditional love. Her family will carry those gifts—and the memories they created together—for generations to come.
Cyndi will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered as a woman who loved fiercely, cared deeply, and always put her family first. As she would say, she gave everyone “a bushel and a peck”—and a hug to go with it.
