Cecelia "Celie" (Snyder) Levine died peacefully on April 9, 2026, at age 96 in Riverwoods, Illinois. She was the devoted wife of Stanley "Tim" Levine for 29 years and carried his memory with her always. Together they built a family and a home filled with good food, good company, and genuine love. Celie grew up in Winchester, MA, daughter of Gertrude (Weinberg) Snyder and Morris Snyder. She was preceded in death by five siblings: Francis (Snyder) Perkins, Vera (Snyder) Goldberg, Bernhart Snyder, Shirley (Snyder) Roseman, and Benson Snyder.
She was a loving mother to Lance Levine (Marsha Turin), Wendy Levine (Deceased), Linda Levine (Abel Klein), Tina (Levine) Richards (Todd Richards), and Gertrude "Gg" Levine (Kurt Harzke). She delighted in her grandchildren: Lionel Levine (Karola Meszaros), Jesse Levine (Zeenat Ali), Scott Richards (Carrie Richards), Kyle Richards, Sara Weissman Marciano (Yoni Weissman Marciano), and Jacob Harzke; and her great-grandchildren: Adam, Ilona, Miklos, and Mira Levine, and Noah Richards. She was excited to learn that a Weissman Marciano baby is on the way. She was a loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was dearly loved by many friends whom she cherished as her spiritual family.
Celie was deeply spiritual and devoted a long portion of her life to the pursuit of spiritual growth. She was a lifelong music lover and singer, who majored in voice and taught music and art. She recited song lyrics right up to the end. She was a creative cook and loved to host her friends and family. Celie was one of a kind and will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD) or the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
