Brian Christopher Philipp, age 26, of Gwinn, Michigan, formerly of Wheeling, Illinois, passed away surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Brian was the beloved son of Ken and Kim (nee Mitchell) Philipp, and the loving brother of the late Bradley Philipp. He was the cherished grandson of Bobbi (the late Paul) Philipp and Shirley (the late Kenneth) Mitchell, and a fond nephew, cousin, and friend to many.

Brian was a young man whose life was far too short, but whose kindness, gentle spirit, humor, and willingness to help others made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Brian learned at an early age what it meant to be a brother. Although Brad was the big brother, Brian often became the “big little brother,” always looking out for him and helping whenever he could.

Helping others was simply part of Brian's nature. Whether he was young or grown, he was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. His kindness and friendliness made it easy for him to make friends, and his circle of friends continued to grow through the many interests and adventures he shared with others.

Brian loved the outdoors. He loved the wilderness, the Northwoods, and especially the snow. His passion for snowmobiling began remarkably early. At just three years old, Brian was already so strong, coordinated, and fearless that he was able to drive his first snowmobile, one of many that would follow throughout his life. Snowmobiling became much more than a hobby; it was one of the great passions of his life.

Brian later attended Northern Michigan University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in marketing. His love for the Northwoods and snow was so strong that he made the Marquette area his permanent home.

For Brian, the outdoors was where he felt most at home. He joined ATV groups and snowmobiling clubs and formed friendships that became lifelong friendships. He loved the adventure, the wilderness, the machines, the snow, and most of all, the people he met along the way.

To his family, Brian was their rock. He was dependable, generous, gentle, and always willing to help. He had a way of making friends easily and making people feel comfortable simply by being himself. It was hard not to love Brian.

Brian's 26 years were not nearly enough, but within those years he filled his life with family, friendship, laughter, kindness, football, adventure, and an unforgettable love for the outdoors. He will be deeply missed by his parents, grandparents, extended family, and the many friends whose lives he touched. His memory will live on through the stories that make them laugh, the adventures they shared, and the kindness he so freely gave to others.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave. (2 Blocks South of Dundee Road), Wheeling.

Funeral prayers will be held Friday, September 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Kolssak Funeral Home, followed by an 11:00 a.m. Life Celebration Mass at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 181 W. Dundee Road, Wheeling. Interment will follow at Maryhill Cemetery, Niles, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in remembrance of Brian's brother, Bradley, may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Make-A-Wish Foundation.
